Spotlight: Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe

SLATE ART has been rotating art exhibitions in the public areas at the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe since 2014. The hotel is as majestic as the surrounding mountains, providing a contemporary, luxurious space to showcase 30+ pieces of regional and nationally-recognized artists’ works. We produce two seasonal shows per year, focusing on modern art by Northern California artists, and artists inspired by the Tahoe area. The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe’s stunning setting and mountain architecture draw visitors from around the world, many of whom have elected to purchase works from the shows for private homes as far away as New York and Hawaii.

Spotlight: Downtown Oakland Lobby

SLATE Art has been producing four art exhibitions per year in the lobby of 555 25th Street at City Center in Oakland since 2014. The focus of this curatorial program is abstract art by Bay Area artists. With 22-foot ceilings, the paneled lobby walls offer opportunities to curate a solo exhibition of large-format paintings by one Bay Area artist each quarter. Two atria, with 30-foot high ceilings, glass on three sides, and views from the street, provide a beautiful context for sculpture exhibitions.

Spotlight: San Francisco Financial District Lobby

SLATE Art began curating three exhibitions per year at 101 Second Street in the Financial District of San Francisco at the beginning of 2016. A major undertaking was an exhibition of work by Charles Arnoldi (an artist whose work is in major museum collections), organized as a way of honoring the forty-foot Arnoldi painting that is part of the permanent public art program in the building’s outer lobby. Other exhibitions have included not only painting but collage and photography by other Bay Area artists with an interest in contemporary media and urban imagery.
