LEA FEINSTEIN

SLATE contemporary | 473 25th Street, Oakland, CA

January 1—2, 2016

SLATE contemporary is pleased to present the work of San Francisco based artist Lea Feinstein for a special two-day, site-specific installation in its new exhibition space on First Friday January 1st, 6-9pm, and Saturday January 2nd, 12-5pm.

Feinstein’s work is deeply influenced by where she lives and works, but her pieces are also uniquely adaptable to most any space due the nature of her use of Tyvek as her substrate. Drawing upon California’s varied landscape, the artist writes: “[t]hese paintings…are inspired by regular flow patterns occurring in widely disparate phenomena—vapor trails merging and dissipating in the sky, rivers joining, blood flowing in the circulatory systems of living beings, sands shifted by the tides, and rain streaming on glass.” This sense of movement and the grand scale of Feinstein’s work invite the viewer into an immersive experience with her painting, sculptural works, and installations.
